Category: enso knives
Handcrafted in Seki City, Japan, Enso knives are the result of combining advanced technology with the unsurpassed knowledge and expertise of traditional craftsmen. Continuing to pursue new possibilities for kitchen knives in the modern era, Enso works on maintaining and improving manufacturing technologies to produce the highest quality products.
The Enso SG2 Bunka Knife is a versatile all-purpose blade suitable for cutting fruits, vegetables, fish, and meat. Featuring a triangular tip area particularly useful for detailed work, the belly of the blade makes it the ultimate push-cut master for both long and short cuts.
Constructed of Japanese SG2 Micro Carbide powder stainless steel, the Enso SG2 blade is enveloped by 101 layers of alternating soft and hard stainless steel, resulting in a corrosion-resistant, exceptionally sharp cutting edge with a Rockwell hardness of 63. The powdered steel ensures a high degree of purity and strength, while the hand-engraved Japanese kanji on the blade adds a touch of cultural authenticity.
The black canvas micarta handle of the Enso SG2 Bunka Knife is complemented by a stainless steel bolster, red spacers, and a Samurai Crest. The enclosed full tang handle construction is seamless, ensuring strength, durability, and balance. The engraved end piece of the handle is made of 18/10 stainless steel, providing outstanding stability and balance.
The incredibly sharp Enso SG2 blades are hand-ground to an approximate 12-degree cutting angle and feature a double-bevel edge, making them suitable for both right and left-handed users. The Japanese kanji hand-engraved on the blade represents "Enso," meaning "Harmony" in Japanese, and "Hyaku Ichi Sō-kō," which translates to "101 Layer Steel." The Japanese character on the end piece of the handle, "Minori," means "Harvest" in Japanese.
Enso knives are made in Seki City, Japan, one of the most renowned sword-making cities in the country, where the incredible quality of knives is founded in the technology and beliefs of the ancient Seki sword smiths. Today's Seki knifemakers combine knowledge, craft, and tradition to develop the highest quality knives, designed to fit a variety of purposes and lifestyles.
